Imagine the convenience: each PSR cable is a pre-terminated, water-proof, off-the-shelf product with the efficiency and functionality of self-regulating technology. With this built-in application flexibility, PSR becomes a first-choice solution for your heat tracing needs.

Each PSR cable is pre-assembled for quick selection and easy installation. Select from lengths of 6', 12', 18', 24', 50', 75' and 100' right off the shelf. All cables use a 30" cold lead (the 30 inches of cold lead is not part of the specified length of the cable - i.e. the 6 ft cable is 8.5 feet long total with 6' of heated cable.) PSR accommodates water pipe diameters from ½" to 2½". For roof and gutter areas, usually one PSR cable will be sufficient.

Power Indicator Plug PSR 120 VAC heating cables use a power indicator light in the plug, visual assurance that the system is working.

Using self-regulating technology, no thermostat is required: overlap the cable with no more overheating worries.  Self-regulating heating cable varies its heat output in relation to the ambient temperature.  As the surrounding temperature increases, the heat of the PSR™ cable decreases.  When the temperature decreases, the cable heat increases along the length of the cable.

The PSR system can be installed with the confidence that it will operate for years without requiring service. When it comes to freeze protection, stay with the leader - EASYHEAT.

The cable should be installed over the unheated portion of the roof (E in Fig. 1) - normally the roof area above the overhang.

To design how much cable is needed, multiply the length of the roof edge that you want cable on by the following spacing factor:

Cable Installation Patterns:

One cable may cover both roof and gutter areas, or separate cables can be used.

 Add this number calculated above to the length of the downspout. (A in Figure 2).  Note: If a downspout is located anywhere other than at the end of the cable routing, that downspout will require double length of cable (B in Figure 2).  Add extra cable for valleys (6' per valley, C in Figure 2) and around dormers (D in Figure 2)

Example: 20 feet of roof, 24" overhang (therefore using overhang multiplier of 2.7), 1 downspout @ 10' at end of cable run, 1 valley, 1 dormer with 30' perimeter.

Cable length = (20 x 2.7) + 10 + 6 + 30 = 100 feet.  Select PSR-1100 which is 100 feet.  If there is excess cable it can be used in the valley or downspout. If footage required exceeds largest cable kit offered, you may need to order more than one kit.  The de-icing cable cannot be cut or altered, doing so voids the warranty, and once cut it cannot be repaired.

Optional RS-2 Roof Cable Deicing Control

Control expense and energy use in electric roof cable protection automatically with Roof Sentry (RS-2). The RS-2 requires two conditions to be present before it energizes roof deicing cable: cold temperatures (ON, 38°F; OFF, 48°F) and the presence of runoff water from the roof in contact with its sensor wire.  If only one of the conditions exists, the control will not energize the cable.

SB-1800 Surebond Everflex Bondaprene. For adhering metal roof clips to metal roofs only. Not for shingles (Asphalt).  A tube of Surebond is estimated to be enough to adhere 20 RCK or ZH-C roof clips.
eh-38 Optional EasyHeat EH38 Preset Thermostat for pipe heating. Thermostatically Controlled Device. Current Tap. EH38 Preset Thermostat device allows cable to energize below 38°F and to turn off automatically at about 50°F.  1500 watt, 15 amp capacity. 125 Volts.  For dry locations only.  With power indicator light.
Wrap-On Pipe Insulation. Fiberglass Pipe Insulation available in 1/2-inch and 1-inch thick rolls of high tensile strength fiberglass and is ideal for insulating pipe heating cables and hot or cold water pipes. It reduces heat loss from hot water pipes.
Fiberglass Cloth Tape. Fiberglass cloth tape roll with a pressure-sensitive adhesive backing. Fiberglass cloth tape roll with pressure-sensitive thermosetting silicone adhesive. 365° F (185°C) rated. 3/4" (1.9 cm) wide x 108 ft. (32.91 m) long roll.
Aluminum Foil Tape. High temperature tape roll with a pressure-sensitive adhesive backing. 2" (5.08 cm) wide x 150 ft. (54.86 m) long roll, 200° F (93°C) rated.
